Magaldi Technologies, a subsidiary of Magaldi Power S.p.a., has an exciting opportunity for an Automation & Commissioning Engineer who would be responsible for developing automation programs and helping insure these programs and others are all efficiently and cost-effectively implemented, in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements.
The candidate will have to deal with the design, development, and programming of PLC and SCADA software, intended for the plants, as well as follow the start-up phase at the customer's site, providing for the correct execution of all commissioning activities. Furthermore, the candidate will be directly involved in all necessary testing activities on power and control panels that will be assembled for the same plants.

Experience: 5+ years in similar roles with large-scale projects in industrial companies
Degree Required: Technical degree in electrical/electronic/energy engineering or similar
CAD Capabilities: AutoCAD.
Software: Good knowledge PLC/SCADA Programming software: Siemens (S7 – WinCC – TIA Portal), Allen Bradley (RSLogix5000 Studio5000- FTView Studio, Site Edition/Machine Edition) - good knowledge of both the above-mentioned systems.
Travel: Approx 30-50% (Project-based only)
Location: Alpharetta, GA.
Language Requirements: English fluency is required. Spanish ability preferred.
Work Hours: Normal hours of operation in most cases, but may, in rare cases, require off-shift and weekend support and to help the team respond to emergency service, installation, commissioning, and spare parts requests for customers that operate 24/7 operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Rigorous compliance and implementation of the processes, procedures, directives, and company policies.
- Contribute to planning and implementation of commissioning activities
- Support and coordinate the installation activities with the Installation Supervisor / Site Manager
- Implement commissioning design changes and provide mark-ups for as-built project documentation;
- Support continuous improvement of project process/product/system design;
- Assist in creating proposals for engineering projects (provision of bills of materials and estimated engineering hours, etc; Support Contract Managers in issuing claims (new scope of work, cost impact, time impact, risk quantification, etc); Create work plans and cost estimates for work in one's area of responsibility;
- Conduct risk and opportunity assessments during the commissioning phase to ensure implementation of the commissioning plan, identify and report potential risks related to contract/quality/program/cost and recommend resolutions to management; Initiate and monitor risk mitigation plan in one's area of responsibility and ensure stakeholders are updated on associated technical risks; Conduct Safety Observation tour regularly to report and mitigate potential HSE hazards;
- Coordinate site activities focused on finalizing customer acceptance Certification; Identify and recommend new effective solutions to meet business and customer needs; Provide relevant information about commissioning assignments and meetings with customer;
- Manage external organizations to ensure availability of commissioning equipment, systems, or services; Provide relevant information about commissioning assignments and meetings with contractors/colleagues; Give feedback to the organization to apply lessons learned process;
- Use standard processes to ensure all commissioning activities comply with required safety regulations and contractual requirements; Apply and improve processes and tools in one's technical area to ensure effective project delivery.
OTHER SKILLS
- Knowledge of the sensors and actuators commonly used in industrial environments and relevant settings - inductive sensors, limit switches, level probes, pressure switches, analog sensors in general, and solenoid valves. Frequency converter programming (Siemens, Allen-Bradley) is appreciated as an additional skill.
- Knowledge of electrical and pneumatic diagrams providing, during commissioning, to modify them with the approval of the Technical Dept. and to implement the same modifies that will be considered as necessary; Good knowledge of Microsoft OS and Microsoft Office package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), especially MS Excel.
- Willingness to travel in USA and the world for the start-up phase of the plant or complex problems concerning the developed software;
- Exceptional collaborative, teaming and consensus-building abilities, as well as proficiency in cross-discipline, cross-organization, and cross-product group cooperation, with the ability to manage, lead and motivate high-potential project teams.
